As the New Year draws closer and winter break begins, it is a good idea to end the year with a bang, cleaning our community. My family likes to exercise and contribute at the same time, looking back at how much trash we have collected over the last few years, it has been a lot. I plan to continue picking up trash and helping my community next year, and I look forward to whatever 2016 brings.

November Leaves Falling
As the holiday season approaches, the leaves fall and people tend to stay inside more, but that does not mean that we have stopped collecting trash! Lately, I have been going on walks with my family and picking up litter we find along the way. The weather has been getting colder and colder, and I can not wait for December, and winter break! Here are some pictures that we took while on the walk!

Litter While Walking the Dog
We were walking our dog and we came across some trash, which we picked up. It is important to pick up any litter you find. It makes a big difference to just pick up even the smallest piece. Even though this collection was not very much, every action counts and makes our earth a little greener.

Ready For Autumn
Now that fall has officially began and school has started, we like to walk as an exercise. My family went on a three mile walk a few days ago. Whenever we walk there is a lot of trash, so it is never a surprise to collect so much when the last time we collected was not even a week ago. Here are two photos of the trash we collected on this walk.

Back to School Walk
School is starting soon for me and my sister, we haven't visited any lakes recently but we have taken walks around our neighborhood and our community. A few days ago my whole family decided to take a walk. My sister and I rode our bikes and our parents walked. While going down the sidewalk our dad found a plastic bag and started putting trash that we collected in it. Over the course of our walk we found lots of trash, mostly bottles and wrapping paper from fast food restaurants. When we finished the walk, I took a picture:

Trash We Picked Up in our Neighborhood
My mom, dad and I went to a walk in our neighborhood and found some trash as we were walking. So we picked them up, put in a bag and threw them in a nearby trash can. We picked up two bags as we walked, found a few bottles, cans, and food packages. There is a lot to be done.

Family Posting
Hey everyone, from now on, my dad and sister will also be posting on this blog to share more of the work we are doing with you all. As Summer continues, we continue to collect trash and try to expand this project. Just a few days ago we went out on another walk and picked up some more trash. Here are some pictures down below of the trash we collected. Stay tuned to see my younger sister and dad post!

Summer Is Almost Here
Yesterday, we went on another walk around our community and collected some more trash. It's great that school is almost over and I plan on swimming and collecting lots of trash over this summer. Trash can be easy to spot on the ground and now that lots of people are outside, the amount of litter has gone up a lot. Here are two pictures that we took of the trash.

Summer Trash Collecting
Hey everyone! Summer is on the way and my family and I are having fun and preparing by collecting trash on walks we take. A few days ago while walking, we collected some trash and got back to our neighborhood trash can to find that the trash can's bottom is completely gone! I was shocked to see that the trash can was completely broken and all of the trash thrown inside was falling out the bottom. So instead of putting our trash in the bin, we put it in a plastic bag and left it next the the broken trash can. We were later glad to see that the trash can was replaced and it has been really clean around our neighborhood. This summer we plan to go to the lake a lot more and collect more trash, and I am so excited to do more and help keep our lakes and environment clean. Here are some pictures of the trash we collected as well as the broken trash can!

Winter Trash Picking
This winter, we got lots of snow, so finding time to collect trash was difficult. Luckily, it got warmer in March and my parents went for a late night walk a few days ago. They collected trash along the way and here is a picture. They said that there was a lot of trash in the bushes, but they were too hard to collect, so they left them there. Instead my parents picked the trash near the road.

Drinking in the Forest?
While we were taking our dog, Becka out for a run in the baseball field near our house, we spotted a lot of beer cans in the trees nearby. We went to take a look, and found that people had been drinking there. They left all their trash there, when a trash can is nearby. More than 50 cans were found there, and this is not the first time we picked up cans in that location. We are hoping to find out who is drinking there...
We brought the cans home and recycled them in our bin.
