May Lake Cleaning

Lately, the weather has finally begun to get warmer and in the past week when we took a walk around the lake. However, we were surprised to find that it had been cleaned extremely throughly! While there used to be many bushes surrounding the edge of the lake, the bushes had been removed and we hardly found any trash around the perimeter. This means that people have been taking care of the environment in our neighborhood. Trimming and removing the bushes makes it easier to see the edges of the lake and clean up trash. It is good to know there are other people making care of of the neighborhood, but we still found a small plastic bag of trash that must have been littered recently. We  will continue to clean our environment and we plan to make more trips around the lake over the summer to see how much trash we can find! Here are some pictures of the lake after it was cleaned and one of the trash we found.

January Trash Collecting

This year has started with a huge snow storm for us! But we managed to fit in some trash collecting before the storm hit us, and we were stuck inside of our house for almost a week! Lately we have been extremely busy, with the first semester of school coming to an end just last week, but now we have a lot more time on our hands and we can hopefully collect trash more often. I would like to go down to our local lake as soon as possible as well. Here are some pictures of trash we collected while walking around our neighborhood recently!

Holiday Fun

As the New Year draws closer and winter break begins, it is a good idea to end the year with a bang, cleaning our community. My family likes to exercise and contribute at the same time, looking back at how much trash we have collected over the last few years, it has been a lot. I plan to continue picking up trash and helping my community next year, and I look forward to whatever 2016 brings.

November Leaves Falling

As the holiday season approaches, the leaves fall and people tend to stay inside more, but that does not mean that we have stopped collecting trash! Lately, I have been going on walks with my family and picking up litter we find along the way. The weather has been getting colder and colder, and I can not wait for December, and winter break! Here are some pictures that we took while on the walk!

Litter While Walking the Dog

We were walking our dog and we came across some trash, which we picked up. It is important to pick up any litter you find. It makes a big difference to just pick up even the smallest piece. Even though this collection was not very much, every action counts and makes our earth a little greener.

Ready For Autumn

Now that fall has officially began and school has started, we like to walk as an exercise. My family went on a three mile walk a few days ago. Whenever we walk there is a lot of trash, so it is never a surprise to collect so much when the last time we collected was not even a week ago. Here are two photos of the trash we collected on this walk.

Back to School Walk

School is starting soon for me and my sister, we haven't visited any lakes recently but we have taken walks around our neighborhood and our community. A few days ago my whole family decided to take a walk. My sister and I rode our bikes and our parents walked. While going down the sidewalk our dad found a plastic bag and started putting trash that we collected in it. Over the course of our walk we found lots of trash, mostly bottles and wrapping paper from fast food restaurants. When we finished the walk, I took a picture:
